Founded in 1959, Aero Contractors or simply Aero is a state-controlled Nigerian Aviation Company. Its company slogan is the reliable way to fly.
Its parent company is Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria and the headquarters is located in Lagos State, Nigeria. The airline operates from its main hub at Murtala Muhammed Airport. Aero Contractors has ceased all its scheduled commercial flight operations effective September 1, 2016 due to financial difficulties.
Aero Contractors used to have two divisions, Aero Nigeria and Rotary Wing. Aero Nigeria provided scheduled passenger services across Nigeria and Western Africa and the destinations include Abuja, Benin City, Calabar, Kaduna, Kano, Enugu, Owerri, Port Hartcourt, Uyo, and Sokoto. The Rotary Wing division provided helicopter services for the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
Aero Contractors fleet, prior to the shut down, includes Boeings 737-400, 737-500, De Havilland Dash 8-Q200, De Havilland Dash 8-Q300 and De Havilland Dash 8-Q400 totalling to 7 aircrafts.
Aero Contractors in-flight service featured broadcast films, onboard meals, WiFi and in-flight magazine. Back when it was operational, Aero Contractors baggage allowance include 20kg for Economy class passengers and 30kg for Business class passengers. It is not known if Aero Contractors had any frequent flyer program. Very few details are known now about Aero Contractors service as their homepage is also now out of service.
